Deacons

The word deacon is derived from the Greek word diakonos, which simply means servant.

The Deacon Ministry at PBC is centered on service. The Deacon Body is service-driven and not an administrative board. The main function of the deacons at PBC is to carry out the Family Ministry Plan, support the pastor, support the staff and support the Church through faithful attendance and prayer.

Education

If a church expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be.

We seek to train and teach and thus provide classes for all ages. Find your niche and jump in! Our teaching staff is of the highest caliber and they take seriously the task and privilege of teaching. We have classes for all ages, both in Sunday School and on Wednesday nights

Strong emphasis is placed on Bible Study. Our teaching staff is the highest caliber and they take seriously the task and privilege of teaching. We have classes for all stages and ages in Sunday School and on Wednesday nights. Classes offer a time for study and interaction.

Sunday School – 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. each Sunday
Bible Study – 6:10 p.m. until 7:10 p.m. each Wednesday

Adult Choir
The adult choir is a 30 voice choral group that provides leadership during the worship hour and also presents special musical presentations throughout the year at PBC. We are always looking for new members willing to learAn more about sharing their musical gifts to lift songs of praise to God. We meet at 7:00 on Wednesday evenings for a weekly rehearsal and always welcome anyone that would like to visit either to listen or to participate.

Children’s Choir
PBC has a fully graded children’s choir program. There are opportunities for ages 4 years through the 6th grade. During the years of children’s choir, children will learn about the Savior that we have in Jesus Christ while also learning basic musical skills. Our ultimate goal is that children will be able to have a rudimentary knowledge of music reading by the time they enter the 7th grade and that they will commit to continuing using their musical talent to involve themselves in the music ministry of the church.

Preschool

“Let the little children come to me…”  Mark 10:14
Quality and constructive child-care for our youngest preschoolers is provided in a safe, well-tended area from birth through three years of age.

Each parent is given a silent pager in order for the Preschool Leader to contact them if necessary. The pager is returned when the parent picks up their child following the worship service.
During the worship hour children four years of age to school age attend Little Big Church which provides preschool training for sanctuary worship. These children in Little Big Church learn to be attentive and learn what to expect in “big church.”
Preschool Coordinators supervise the preschool department ad plan activities for the children.

We believe that it is equally important to teach those of every age about Christ. Our Preschool program centers on teaching the fundamentals in an engaging, safe environment.

We have fun in the Children’s Department. Under the experienced leadership of a Children’s Ministry Team. The children have goals for their Bible Study and fun learning to grow in their Christian nurturing. Join them! There is a place for you and your children. JOIN US!

Senior Adults

Aging gratefully as well as gracefully.
 Our Senior Adults are active:

Second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. – The “Ain’t Done Yet” (ADY) club meets. The ADY is sponsored by PBC for the purpose of promoting fellowship among retired people and others in our church and community. A covered dish luncheon and program are the highlight of the gathering.

Our Senior Adults are a vital, active group in our community and church. They are truly young at heart, taking part in many activities. See our “Services and Events” page for more information.

Connect through any of our Current Bible Studies

CHILDREN

Leaders:  Marie Sanders, Donna Swords, Louanne Burdette, Kim O’Conner  Sunday School is a balanced mix of free and structured time with planned activities and age-appropriate Bible study.  Each and every week children will open their Bibles to hear the story, sing, and pray with their friends and experienced teachers who have been modeling Christ’s love for preschoolers for decades and who are there week after week to welcome you and your child.

YOUTH

Leader: Vickie Boyd & Kimberly Langley.  Our Student Ministry is to equip, lead, encourage and aid students with their God-given gifts to bring glory to Jesus Christ. Bible Study, music, ministries and strong leadership is an integral part of helping them develop into the best Christian witness they can possibly be. Got wants to do big things with our students and we want to be a part of that.

Lydia-Ruth Class

Leaders: Joy Ashley, Cheryl Caldwell, Mary Louise Wright.  We are a class for women of all ages. We have a good fellowship with each other, sharing our loves, prayers, sorrows, blessings, and everything else important. We love one another and have fun together!

Faith Walkers

Leaders: Terry Birchfield, Jimmy Wright You finally found it – a place to study God’s kingdom in a middle-age environment where you will discover what He has in store for you! We learn and grow in service individually and as a group each and every Sunday. The only thing missing is you!

Pastor’s Class

Leaders: Gary Burton, Lary Burton, Buck Jordan. In the Pastor’s class, which is taught by three capable teachers, we study the Bible with the help of the course Nurturing Faith. Then the Pastor shows us ways to apply what we have learned.

Journey together

Leaders: Cathy Poage, Jerrie Burton.  

Focused on the Bible and discussion-based, this young adult class welcomes any and all parents of young children. We share the challenges of family life, young marriage and careers while exploring the relevance of God’s Word for us today. The Journey Together class has single parents and couples as part of this group and “young” is very flexible, so come join us! 

Cheers/Friendship Class

Leader:  Pat Moseley, Barbara Farquhar .  A wonderful class of baby boomers who share a love for the Bible and service to PBC. They offer a relaxed environment and experienced study in the scriptures. Very active in all aspects of PBC, they are a very important component of the ongoing education and instruction of our church body.

Barnabas Men’s Class

Leaders: Class Teaching Rotation.  This is a class for men of all ages. It is a round table discussion format where we teach and discuss God’s word.
