Purpose:
To use the gifts the Lord has given me to help others in a critical time of need.
Mission:
To fly a family member to be with their loved one when death is imminent and the "best hope" of getting there in time is by private airplane. This includes picking up a family member and bringing them to Montgomery if a commercial flight is not a more timely option.
Goals:
- Provide an immediate flight, at no charge, any time of the night or day when time is critical and general aviation is the fastest means available.
- Contact churches in the local area to inform them of the ministry, conditions, my contact information and qualifications.
- Work through the clergy and leaders within the local churches to verify the need and to contact Best Hope Ministry for a flight. If possible, without delaying the flight, a prayer companion from the church is encouraged to ride along.
- Network within the local general aviation community to develop a pool of qualified pilots so that availability is assured.
Conditions:
Requests for a flight will only be honored if initiated by a church representative, and the flight will only be made if the pilot decides it can be made safely.
The general limit for flight distance is 500 - 600 miles since flights beyond this distance can usually be handled more quickly using commercial airlines. This is not a hard rule and the decision will be based on the time requirement compared to commercial alternatives.
A waiver will be required that holds the church, the pilot, and the owner of the airplane harmless.
